The view is worth the drive to the summit. This is a privately owned mountain so you must make reservations in order to go to the restaurant. We went for lunch and had the ground strip steak hamburger. Delicious! And the Brownie Cloud for dessert. Great!
TLDR: amazing breathtaking view and that's about it. Food was bad and service was mixed.
This is definitely a "you are paying for the view" type of place. While this place has extraordinary views and a nice venue the food and service was way below par.
At the restaurant the food was bland and not cooked well. My steak was not even that well cooked and was cold. The pasta dish we ordered was watery and bland as well. My baked potato had that hard undercooked taste. Bad bad food. Also they ran out of bread. The waitress was kind but I could tell everyone was just ready to go home.
First the view is all about God's country so amazing. Went with my parents they were blown away by the beauty. The service was great, the food was more than we could eat, the dessert was out of this world. Yes we waited about 10 minutes for our drinks but who cares when you get to talk and visit and see everything around you. We will be back. Thank you for making this a trip for my parents to remember.
The security guard was rude about me not having a reservation and sent us off the first time telling us there was a 2 week wait. I called and got a reservation for that evening.
We went on a Sunday after UT Homecoming they only had 2 types of steaks available no bread and served a crab cake that looked like a hockey puck. All we were told was they got slammed on Saturday. Given that you must have reservations it would have bern more professional to either cancel our reservations or at least two us e would not be receiving the full experience. Interestingly no manager came by our table there were no applies for the poor quality of food. The servers did the best they could. We were a party of 14 do we spent quite a bit for a very poor experience. What made it worse was that we bought our family from Florida who were visiting.
The view was amazing! Staff was so nice and cheerful. Our waitress made a wonderful recommendation about a short drive down to the end of the property the sky wall to see chimney tops! Beautiful! The whole area is beautiful. Well worth the drive. The food was what you would expect, nothing to fancy. And it was at a decent price. Kinda the home cooked, small restaurant feel.
